If you know someone who has been living with prostate cancer, it is not difficult to imagine how scary life must have become for the affected individual and his family; I know for a fact that my uncle, who was diagnosed with it a decade back, still cannot get out of its clutches for he still has to be careful with his diet and his activities, plus he has to deal with frequent checks and the emotional strain for the possibility of the cancer coming back. What is commendable is that even after this blow that life dealt to their lives, my uncle and his wife have somehow weathered through and come out stronger than ever; they appear to be more in love with each other than ever, and have strengthened their faith as well. Their attitude seems to be well reflected in the lives of their children, who are amazingly the best behaved and accomplished teens I have ever made the acquaintance of; their dad had to cut off on some of his work load, which meant that he had to take a pay cut as well, just so that he can avoid stressors and infections that could aggravate the situation, but the kids did not seem to mind maybe because their parents gave them the heads up in advance, or more possibly because they were so rich in the love of their parents that the loss of some material possessions failed in comparison. In the end, it is the reaction one chooses towards life that can determine how a situation will turn out, for how can something faced with too much love and optimism ever become so bleak and dark.
