We had a project on our subject in robotics and artificial intelligence wherein we designed an algorithm on determining the possible way of controlling the directions of the robot as it moves. The robot can actually change its direction depending on which way he can possibly go as soon as he finds a barrier or a wall along its way and it can go anywhere as loong as it is still on range for our remote controller. Upon the processing part, we used a camera attached to the robot to become its vision and would help the robot determine if what it is seeing is something like a barrier or not and if it happens to find something along its way, it will then change its direction. We made a program that will process all the images being captured by the camera and then determine if it is a wall or not and sends signal to the parallel port relay board which is directly connected to our circuit system attached to the remote of the robot. The robot will only change its direction when a signal from the remote that there is a barrier detected, otherwise, it will continue moving forward. The entire project was really very challenging in a way that it we started from scratch and it took us months before we were really able to do the project and is already working properly. I am really proud of what we have done especially that robotics is quite difficult especially if you do not use programmable integrated circuits to do the processing for you. Our teacher of course were really proud for this especially that he knows how much effort we gave just to be able to finish this project assigned to us and we then received amazing recognition from the other students and faculty members.
